Command Line Interface

Question: What is the CLI and what is it used for?

Response: The CLI is the command line interface to HipLinkXS. With this client application, the user can do multiple things. The CLI can be used as a command in a dos-shell, for example. The idea is that instead of typing the command in a text shell, any application can execute this command. Thus HipLinkXS can be integrated into other application to send page messages as notification. Some commonly used applications that HipLinkXS integrates with include: Network or System Monitoring, Helpdesk applications, CRM systems, etc.

Question: How do I set up the CLI?

Response: The CLI comes with its own installer. CLI can be installed on the server computer, where the server application of HipLinkXS is running or on different computers, that are intended to send messages via the CLI over the server application on the server computer.

Make sure you assign a user on the HipLinkXS server that has ‘Non-GUI” permission. You would choose “non-GUI” or “both” as the user type. This user also has to be assigned the IP address from where the CLI is sending messages.
