Dial Up Sending Problem

Question:  I have problems sending over a dial up / modem connection.

Response: Please check if you have a messenger defined for the TAP dial up protocol. Then make sure that the messenger is started and running - you do this via the "Services" menu.

Messenger settings: You have to define the serial port in the messenger's settings. For Windows, please check if the correct COM port is selected. On Unix, typical ports are:

·        /dev/ttyS0 on Linux

·        /dev/cua/a on Solaris (Sparc)

·        /dev/cua2p0 on HP-UX

·        /dev/tty0 on AIX

Modem: Please make sure the modem is connected properly (to the right serial or device port) and is plugged into an analog telephone line. Check the init string in the messenger settings. The typical init string is "ATZ" and works on most modems. If it doesn't work on your model please check the documentation that came with the modem or try the "help" function on messenger settings.

Is another process locking the same port? (such as RAS or application loader - or getty on Unix).

Is the port configured for "incoming" only?

If the Modem has dip-switches, check those, the settings should be:

             1         2          3            4          5           6          7            8

up        up     down       up        up         up        up         down
